Art at Night: St Leonard’s & Art Month Closing Weekend Block Party

TWT Creative Precinct proudly presents the 2018 Block Party on Friday 23 March across 3-blocks and 16 studios in St Leonards.

From 5pm-10pm, explore Sydney’s fastest growing Creative Precinct. Follow a trail through our studios to discover the creative ideas that are transforming the Lower North Shore.

Experience a free program of exhibitions, performance, music and workshops for all the community featuring the unveiling of a new mural by Sophi Odling in Atchison Lane to compliment our growing outdoor gallery of work by Beastman, Jodee Knowles and Fintan Magee.

The free Block Party program includes the official opening of Bakedown Cakery (our very own Chocolatier) and children’s chocolate hunt, Lonely Kids Club fashion parade of their new Autumn collection, music performances by Collective Sound and the puppet show performance of “Spacejunk” by Sight By Storm. In Atchison Lane, purchase original arts and crafts in our inaugural Arts Market, get your portrait done by the artists from Studio A and witness a variety of classical and contemporary solos by the talented students of the Tanya Pearson Academy. Then as night falls watch St Leonards light up with projections by Todd Fuller, Michaela Gleave, Tina Fox and William Mansfield while dancing in our outdoor disco at Cicli Spirito.

Exhibitions in the precinct include “Ko Computer” by Raymond Lalotoa, “Two Artists One Journey” at me Artspace, “Explore 8” at cre8tiv gallery  and the launch of the residency program exhibition at Contact Sheet.

TWT Creative Precinct is an exciting and vibrant initiative which involves the conversion of a number of commercial buildings between Atchison Street and Chandos Street in St Leonards into creative spaces.

Brand X is a non-profit arts organisation engaged to manage TWT Creative Precinct. Their focus is in the repurposing of spaces so that artists have a place to create new work.

Since opening in 2014, TWT Creative Precinct has grown to now house over 70 artists from the visual, performing, music and film disciplines. Incorporating 16 different spaces over 11 buildings on Atchison and Chandos Streets, the precinct offers over 4500square metres of subsidised space to the local creative community.

TWT Creative Precinct strives to reinvigorate the cultural identity of the lower north shore and is a major turning point in the cultural landscape of St Leonards.
