Creativity versus Robots: Can the arts disrupt emerging technologies?

SAMAG's 26 March Event

Time: 6 - 8pm

Where: Australia Council for the Arts, 372 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills

Can blockchain help musicians manage their royalties or artists track the provenance of their works? What is the role of artificial intelligence in the creative process? Is it still art if it was made by a robot? What role will culture play in maintaining our humanity in a fully automated future?

We spend a lot of time discussing how emerging technologies will disrupt our everyday world. But these technologies are used in surprising and unanticipated ways by artists across different artforms and different cultures.

Find out what these technologies are, how they are being used by artists and how the arts might in turn change technology. Our panel of artists and creative technologists will demonstrate and talk about some of the emerging trends and what they might mean for us.

Panel

Ollie Bown: Senior Lecturer at UNSW Art & Design and co-director of the Interactive Media Lab
