Talk: 'Collecting Photography'

Speaker Biographies:

Bethan Donnelly has extensive experience the arts, museum and galleries sector and has worked closely with many of Australia’s leading artists and curators. Her experience includes five years at STILLS Gallery - a leading contemporary Australian gallery dedicated to photography, video and multimedia art forms. Bethan is a passionate collector of art, supporting established and emerging artists. Her collection has a focus on prints that push the boundaries of the photographic medium and its place in contemporary art.  

Laura Moore is an emerging artist based in Sydney, currently undertaking her MFA at Sydney College of the Arts. Laura was the winner of the National Portrait Gallery's 2012 Digital Portraiture Award and her work has featured in a number of award exhibitions including The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, Sydney Life Exhibition and Prize, Art and About Sydney Festival, Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award, The William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize and the 2016 Grace Cossington Smith Art Award. Laura has exhibited widely in Australia and most recently has presented solo exhibitions at Galerie pompom in Sydney, C3 Contemporary Art Space in Melbourne, and Sister Gallery for the FRAN festival in Adelaide.

Brett Ballard is a Senior Art Specialist at an International auction house in Sydney. He has an extensive knowledge of both Australian and International Modern Art and has contributed to journals and books. Brett writes regularly on art for auction catalogues and has previously worked for Rex Irwin Art Dealer in Sydney. He holds an MA in The History and Theory of Modern Art from Chelsea School of Art and Design.
