FROGHOLLOW STUDIOS

Froghollow Studios, currently hidden in the rear of Level 3, 85 William St, Darlighurst, has a long history as a studio for artists in the inner - city area of Sydney. Originating in the infamous Froghollow Lane in Surry Hills, it moved to a larger space on the second floor of 85 William St in 2000. Smaller in size now, it is one of the few remaining artist studio spaces in the inner city that provides traditional atelier spaces in contrast to the rapid rise of desk-based co-working spaces. Studio alumni include, Shaun Gladwell, David Griggs, Lindy Lee, Nell and Anthony White.  Current artists sharing the studios are Annabel Butler, Shu Kwan, Jennifer O’Brien, Alan Rose and Elizabeth Wallace.Studio artists work on a diverse range of projects which display an ‘accidental’ synchronicity in their working processes and an emphasis on materiality in their artwork.
